What is Vitamin B1?
Vitamin B1, also known as Thiamine hydrochloride (HCL), is a vitamin found in food, and manufactured as a dietary supplement and medication. Among food sources are whole grains, legumes, and some meats and fish. Refined grains lose much of their thiamine and cereals and flours are enriched with thiamine in many countries.
Function:
Also known as thiamine, (thiamine) is an important component of cocarboxylase in glucose metabolism. Mainly maintain the normal metabolism of carbohydrates, increase appetite and maintain normal nerve activity. Deficiency: When vitamin B1 intake is insufficient, mild cases manifest as muscle weakness, apathy and loss of appetite, and severe cases suffer from beriberi. It mainly affects the nervous system, cardiovascular system, edema and serous exudation. Clinically, the neurological type is mainly called dry beriberi, and the edema and cardiac symptoms are mainly called wet beriberi. Those with acute heart changes are called beriberi heart disease, and those who are seriously ill can cause heart dysfunction, heart rhythm failure and mental disorders.
