Introduction
1. Sodium Benzoate is used as a preservative in food and drinks to prevent the growth of mould, yeast and fungi. In general, salts are preferred over the acid form because they are more soluble in water.

2. Sodium benzoic is a white granule or crystalline powder with an odourless or slightly benzoin odour, a slightly sweet taste and an astringent taste. The relative molecular mass of 144.12.
